Blue Key-Card Kinetic Earrings
The original three pair have sold, but I'm on a quest for another key-card or another intriguing object.
These earrings are made from a hotel key-card! I found the card out on a walk, and with its unique distress marks from traffic, it reminded me of lapis lazuli. I took it home, conditioned it and spent some time coming up with an original design. These are so light that I had to add weight to the bottom so they'd hang straight. The deep cobalt beads are German art-glass that I've been saving for a special piece. The ocean-blue beads are fire crystal.
Wish I could say there will be many more of these - I'll probably make three pairs with the one little card. Part of the challenge and fun of working with found objects - you pick things up, make art with them, and let them go. You keep adapting to what you find and making room for the next experience. That's the philosophy when I've got my mind right, always a challenge!
