Brass Dragon And QEII Earrings
Contemporary brass dragons with an oxidized copper matte finish. The UK postage stamps underneath the dragons show a profile of QEll. They also feature the Northern Irish Red Hand in the six-pointed star, one of the only emblems in Northern Ireland used by both communities, although it's more associated with Protestants. Catholics view it as representing the nine counties of Ulster, and for Protestants it represents the six counties of Northern Ireland.
The Red Hand represents Ulster province, and serves as the official seal of the O'Neill family.
The legend says that two chieftains were racing across a stretch of water, each trying to be the first to reach the island of Ireland and claim it as his own. Seeing his rival would touch land first, one chieftain cut off his hand and threw it onto shore, so claiming the land as his own.
Trimmed with Indian bindis. Statement pieces, feather-light and full of movement. I'll be posting a pair in greens as well.
